Background
I was born in Johannesburg in 1949, initially was schooled at St Paul’s Preparatory, De La Salle College (Victory Park) and finally, Damelin College. After travelling in Europe during 1968 and 1969, I joined the family business – Jetmaster fireplaces – as a sales representative, marrying New Zealander, Christine (nee Pollard) in 1970 until 1978. My oldest son, Conan Craig was born in 1972 and in 1974, Sean Geoffrey.
In 1979 I married Irene (nee Badenhorst) and we created and operated several highly successful businesses. Our son, Evan, was born in 1981 and in that year, together with Irene’s son, Jacques ( born 1974), we all moved to Atlanta, USA. The family returned to Johannesburg in 1982 to re-establish our marketing and publishing business.
I have been single since 1998
My Poetry
I have been writing poetry for the past twenty years or more. It has become an important way for me to express myself and my feelings. Whilst most of my poetry is somewhat ‘romantic and flirtatious’, I occasionally write to express my anger or my joys. I have been an active member of several poetry clubs and I enjoy ‘performance and competitive poetry’ gatherings. Click below to visit my small collection of some of my favourite poems.
