A BEAUTIFUL OR A BITTER BONUS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Cigarette
\nand cigar smoke.
\nThe bloke behind the bar,
\nfar away,
\nWallowing in the warmth
\nof his particular dreams.
\nHis schemes
\nand his personal aspirations.
\nThe coke is liquid
\nin this fluid , futile fantasy.
\nIt’s free .
\nNo way out for some.
\nSee , it’s begun.
\nFun in small doses.
\nSpouse and partners
\nleft behind
\nto find their own fulfillment;
\nTheir contentment,
\nor the achievement of their individual goals ,
\nor the salvation of souls.
\nOr to own their own ?
\nFor once ?
\nTo dance alone, naked on the beach at midnight.
\nOr perhaps to actually find contentment in the relative security of solitude.
\nThe magnitude of the concept is humbling –
\nin the shadow of the bigger scheme of things.
\nIt rings true ,
\nfor the few who may understand;
\nTo those who grasp the hand
\nof opportunity
\nor reach out and take a stake in life’s game.
\nWell- prepared to loose or win.
\nTo sin , perhaps ; to shorten the odds
\nor at least to sway them in one’s favour,
\nSavoring each passing pulse-beat moment ,
\nI realize the reality;
\nMy last breath was my last
\nAnd my next may be either a beautiful or a bitter bonus.
\nAh, but to revel in this rowdy reflection of our now.
\nSurviving , somehow.<\/p>\n
